Thoughtly App ("Thoughtly," "we," "our") is a personal content capture app developed by Mohit Agrawal. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.
What Thoughtly Does
Thoughtly lets you record voice memos on iPhone or Apple Watch, capture images from any app, and uses AI to transcribe recordings, analyze content, and suggest actions like creating reminders, calendar events, or notes.
Data We Collect
Content you create. Voice recordings and images you capture are stored locally on your device in an SQLite database. This content never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a feature that requires it (such as AI transcription).
Account information. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. This is used solely for authentication and is stored securely via Supabase.
Subscription status. If you subscribe to Thoughtly Premium, your subscription tier is stored in your user profile to manage access to premium features. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
How Your Data Is Processed
On-device processing. When available, Thoughtly uses Apple Intelligence to analyze your content entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server for on-device analysis.
Cloud transcription. Voice recordings are sent to the OpenAI Whisper API for transcription. OpenAI processes the audio to return text and does not use your data to train their models under their API data usage policy. Audio data is transmitted over HTTPS and is not retained by OpenAI after processing.
Cloud analysis. When on-device analysis is unavailable, transcript text or image data may be sent to the OpenAI API (GPT-4o mini) for content analysis. The same data handling terms apply — your content is not used for model training.
Authentication and profiles. Account data is stored in Supabase, a cloud database service. This includes your user ID, subscription tier, and monthly usage count. Supabase stores data in secure, encrypted infrastructure.
Data Storage
- Local storage: All recordings, images, transcripts, and analysis results are stored on your device.
- iCloud backup: If you enable iCloud backup in settings, your database and media files are backed up to your personal iCloud account. This is controlled entirely by you.
- Server storage: Only your user profile (ID, tier, usage count) is stored on our server. Your recordings, images, and transcripts are not stored on our servers.
Third-Party Services
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit): Authentication and subscription management.
- OpenAI (Whisper API, GPT-4o mini): Transcription and content analysis.
- Supabase: User authentication and profile storage.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry.
- We do not share your content with other users.
Your Choices
You can delete any recording or image at any time from within the app. You can sign out to disconnect your account. You can disable iCloud backup in settings. To delete your account and all associated server data, contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Thoughtly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
